Raising leaders through music.

Guitarlina School of Music

We are a family owned private Christian music school founded in 2010 by Chidimma Carter. Our goal is to help every child develop a genuine love for music and to grow in skill and expression of musical talents using it to bless and positively impact family and community.

Supporting music education in childhood development.

We can all agree that music has a massive impact on our lives - it’s almost everywhere we go. Many say it causes intense emotion and overwhelming joy within them, influencing mood and actions, thoughts and feelings - which is why the power of music should never be underestimated.

For children, this is even more apparent. Music provides entertainment and distraction from problems and serves as a way to relieve tension and boredom. Did you know, that music can play an important role in your child’s growth, even before birth? Exposing your child to music ignites all areas of child development. Doing this early can help ensure that your child grows up healthy.

How can music help develop a young child’s brain?

Music ignites all areas of child development and skills for school readiness, particularly in the areas of language acquisition and reading skills.

Learning to play a musical instrument can improve mathematical learning, and even increase school scores.

Materials for Learning

At Guitarlina School of Music, we use and provide age appropriate materials to teach our students music theory as well as well as instrumental techniques that make learning relatable, practical, easy and fun. We primarily use the Faber series for piano students and use the same texts used in band class in most schools. If your child does not already own any musical texts, we carry them in our studio and are happy to make them available to you.

Continuing Music Education for Adults

Guitarlina School of Music is very proud to provide music lessons for adults and seniors of all ages as well. Sometimes, fulfilling that life long dream of playing the piano, or wanting to pick up the guitar after decades of procrastination is the only motivation you need. Did you know that research shows that music stimulates the brain and enhances memory in older people. Adults aged 60 to 85 showed improved verbal fluency and processing sped after a few months of weekly piano lessons.
